How do you put an alternator belt on a chevy cavalier?

My husband is trying to pust a new alternator belt on our chevy cavalier. Does anyone know how or know a on-line site that we could find out how?How do you put an alternator belt on a chevy cavalier? If would REALLY help if we know what year the car was built, and what motor was in there.

If it's an early 1980's 4-cylinder (%26quot;Iron Duke%26quot;) then the job is a real nightmare, with a hidden bolt that is difficult to loosen and tighten. How do you put an alternator belt on a chevy cavalier? There is usually 1 or 2 bolts that need to be loosened. Once this is done the old belt can be removed or new belt put on. Generally once the belt is put on you will need to put sufficient pressure on the altenator (using a prybar or large screwdriver) at the same time tightening the bolt(s) making sure there is about a 1/2 inch of play is in the belt. Too tight and it could cause abnormal wear or breakage.

Ofcourse if he has to go behind any belts to change this one. The same applies, there are usually 1 or 2 bolts to loosen then do the reverse to secure. How do you put an alternator belt on a chevy cavalier?I hope the cav is not so old that it does'nt use a serpentine belt, it should be a piece o cake with a spring load tensioner.
