How do you replace an Auger Belt on a snowblower?

I have an 8hp dual-stage MTD snowblower (badged Snowflite) where the auger belt broke. There doesn't appear to be enough space to slide the new belt between the gears.

What is the best way to change that belt? Most snowblowers seem to be built similarly. I'm guessing I need to take apart some of the gearbox, but would like to have a clue where to start.

Thanks! How do you replace an Auger Belt on a snowblower?Remove two bolts ( one on each side) just behind the blower section. This will allow the machine to open up (pivot). This will allow you to change the belt. Make sure you do not pinch the new belt when closing. How do you replace an Auger Belt on a snowblower? The best and safest way would be to follow the instructions in the owners manual. If you don't have one, take it to a servicing dealer or go to:

and download one.

cheers.
