How can I stop my serpentine belt from squealing?

1996 Dodge Ram 4x4 v8. I've replaced the belt once already. Brand new belt and it's squealing again after a week. Used to just squeal steadily a few minutes after starting up, now it does little chirps all the time, more when I accelerate. How can I stop my serpentine belt from squealing?you need to replace the belt tensioner as it's not keeping the belt tight. How can I stop my serpentine belt from squealing?Ugh the belt isn't the problem, check your idler pulley and tensioner. How can I stop my serpentine belt from squealing?check all your pully's. you may have one that is catching up. also, you can try some belt dressing..How can I stop my serpentine belt from squealing? It's not the belt. Spray some WD-40 on the pulleys. How can I stop my serpentine belt from squealing?make sure its the belt like others have noted it could be a tensioner most likely or a pulley ive seen wierd ones where its a sensor doing the chirping.......How can I stop my serpentine belt from squealing? You should usually replace tensioner when you replace drive belts. They lose tension over time. How can I stop my serpentine belt from squealing?Make sure the belt doesn't need to be tightened again, if you do not have an automatic tensioner, check that. Then belt dressing.

If that doesn't help, then start trouble shooting the pulleys.

Good luck! How can I stop my serpentine belt from squealing?Ohhh Please! Don't ever apply WD-40 to any rubber product. It'll swell and dissolve the crap out of any pure rubber product on Earth. Belt dressing will make the belt chirp worse.

Your only option is silicone spray or silicone ignition grease. These are inert greases and lubricants which do not damage rubber ever! Check the idler pulley when the belt is off.How can I stop my serpentine belt from squealing?sounds like you need a belt tensioner. until you get 1, spray some belt dressing on it.How can I stop my serpentine belt from squealing?Yes its the belt tension-er.Now,before you take off the belt mark the direction it is traveling.Cause, if you don't it's still going to make that noise even after you change the tension-er.Or you can put a new belt on it?
