How long does it take to get from white belt to black belt?

How long does it usually take to get from white belt to black belt?

I'm trying to get a measuring stick to compare my rate with what is normal. If you could list your source too, that would be great.

Thanks! How long does it take to get from white belt to black belt?If you're referring to Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu it will take anywhere from 8-15 years depending on your dedication and your instructor. 8 years would be extremely quick, and the average is over 10 years. You also must be at least 19 years old to obtain a bjj black belt.

The only way to POSSIBLY move up faster then that and still be recognized in BJJ is too be dominant on the competition scene on an international level.

BJ Penn was the fastest Non-Brazilian ever promoted to black belt, and he was not recognized by the IBJJF until he shocked the world and became the first american to win the BJJ World Championships in the Black Belt Division with only 3.5 years of training. This is unheard of. BJ is not human, and it's unrealistic to consider his feats possible for most people.

You can possibly earn it faster then 8 years, but you'd have to be a very dominant competitor, or find an instructor willing to sling belts faster then he's supposed to.

Pugpaws- In BJJ a Black belt is not like a black belt in other styles. It does not show a basic understanding, but more a mastery of the art. A BJJ black belt is the highest level of skill and the degrees are only given as a sign of respect to those who came before, and also accomplishments in teaching.

A BJJ Black Belt takes longer to get than most other styles to which is why most people compare it to a %26quot;Renshi%26quot; level in most other arts. Most people compare a purple belt in BJJ to a Black Belt in other styles because for the reasons you mentioned above as well as it taking about the same amount of time in training.

To recieve a BJJ black belt you must be at least 19 years old, and even that is very rare, and you will not be able to find one that can't fight well, at least on the ground. In BJJ the belts represent divisions, and in order to get the belt you must be competitive in that division.

If it's Traditional Jujutsu then Pugpaws answer is 100% correct. How long does it take to get from white belt to black belt? You said that you study Japanese Jujitsu yet you pick an answer that is mostly about BJJ ?? I don't get your logic.

There is really no way to know, it depends on your dedication, hard work, ability to learn the technique and so on.How long does it take to get from white belt to black belt?It depends on the school, the marital art, and you.

The best way to find out would be to ask your instructors about the average. For me, it took 4 years. For some people who basically pay for it, it takes 1 year. For people who have really strict teachers, it can take a decade. How long does it take to get from white belt to black belt?It varies a LOT. There are some places where it takes roughly a year, although in fairness they're considered rather poor schools; in other places it could take up to ten years. The average seems to be about five years, give or take, but because it seems like such a far off goal, people tend to get discouraged. I'd recommend focusing on your next belt, and learning what you need to advance to that. Then focus on the next belt, and the next. Each rank is one step closer to your ultimate goal, but they're small little goals, which are much easier to deal with. How long does it take to get from white belt to black belt?BJ Penn 3 years, Frank Mir 5, it your above either well la di freakin daHow long does it take to get from white belt to black belt?Itll take as long as it takes. Dont worry about how long it takes just concentrate on ur training. How long does it take to get from white belt to black belt?I would say on average 7 years. But it really depends on you.How long does it take to get from white belt to black belt?anywhere from a year if you do it more than full time 9 hrs a day to a decade depending on your politics average is about three yearsHow long does it take to get from white belt to black belt?Don't worry about the time. Actually don't even think about it. Just focus on your training and perfecting your techniques. How long does it take to get from white belt to black belt? You are missing the point here. Here is a quick breakdown of why:

1) Earning a black belt means only that you have learned the basic moves.

2) It does not mean that you can do the basics well.

3) It does not mean you can fight well.

4) It does not mean that you understand what it is you have learned.

5) It is only the beginning of learning the martial art.

6) In Okinawa and Japan, it means that you are ready to begin to learn.

7) In the Orient students do not concern themselves with the color of the belt they wear, they understand that their knowledge, ability, and understanding are what matters.

8) In a traditional dojo, you never ask if you can be tested for rank. It is considered rude.

9) Asking about testing or bragging about your rank is a good way to either get reprimanded, or expelled from the class.

10) Only a few students in a traditional dojo ever make it to the first black belt level. In fact in the U.S.A. in the late 1960's less than 3% of all martial arts students ever became black belts.

11) No children were allowed to be promoted to black belt unless they were at least 16 years old.

12) Black belts under the age of 18-20 were rare.

13) Most people under the age of 18-20 simply are not mature enough, or able to handle the demands of fighting with adult black belts.

14) traditional dojo will never promote a student because they have attended a minimum number of classes (or hours) of training.

15) Only those that have proven that they have the knowledge, ability, fighting ability, and maturity are tested for rank. Attitude is very important. Anyone that is even thought to be more concerned about what rank they are wearing is considered to not have the correct attitude and is usually not considered for rank testing.

16) Any student that bullies others in or outside the dojo. Is likely to be suspended from class.

17) Any student that does not respect others, is likely to be suspended from class.

18) A good student never concerns himself with how good he is compared to anyone else. He is only concerned with getting better at what he knows and can do.How long does it take to get from white belt to black belt?well i go tom mimidis karate and it will take me about four yars at least or more and that is tang soo doHow long does it take to get from white belt to black belt?Aaahhh Grasshopper...
