You leave the socket off and just uses the stud. Loosen the Tension bolt, uses the socket to tighten the belt and then tighten the bolt and you are done.How much does it cost to have the alternator belt tightened?Most cars have an automatic belt tensioner on them. If you have an older model, then normally a bolt is loosened and the proper tension is applied and the adjustment bot retightened. It should be simple, so I'd figure somewhere around $20-25 bucks.
