How much should it cost to replace a timing belt on a new style 99 Jetta GL 4 cylinder automatic?

I just got an estimate from the dealer and they said $750 and it would take 4 days... they said they had to replace the water pump at the same time, too (even though there is nothing wrong with my water pump, I just need to get the timing belt replaced for maintenance purposes- it has not broken.) It seems like a very high estimate to me, but I called another dealer in the area and they said the same thing.
