How do I know exactly where to turn the timing belt before removing it?

Am I supposed to take the spark blug out closest to the wheel and turn till I seea piston or something. I don't understand what tdc is. I want to make sure I know how to remove and install the timing belt properly.How do I know exactly where to turn the timing belt before removing it?You can start here:

IT DOES matter when you install the new belt. Every car has a slightly different setup so I suggest you get a workshop manual to suit your car. It will explain how to fix everything on your car.
