How often do people die in car wrecks even when wearing a seat belt?

Unless it is some god awful crash, will most of the time, if you are in a crash, even a bad one, but wearing your seat belt, will people live most of the time without being paralyzed or anything? If not what usually causes them to die/be paralyzed even if wearing a seat belt? How often do people die in car wrecks even when wearing a seat belt? There are MANY causes of death in a collison...the two most notably are lack of oxygen (many reasons) and extreme hemmoraging (bleeding-for the layman.)

Intrusion of car components into the passenger compartment is but one cause of serious injury or death. Seat belts don't stop a car from bending and twisting into a mangled wreck.

Seat belts merely keep the occupants restrained and minimize movement.

Air bags are just as important as seat belts.

If you fracture an ankle or leg bone in a crash, (especially a femur) this can lead to serious complications as well.

YOU WILL nearly always suffer less severe injuries when wearing seat belts.

Even if the car catches on fire, you'll usually have time to escape or bystanders may be of assistance.

Too many teens (not wearing seat belts) have been EJECTED from a rolling car.How often do people die in car wrecks even when wearing a seat belt?i don't know the exact statics, but from prior experience (emt), many

people die from other causes than the accident, itself. for instance, if you are in a crash, the seat belt in attached properly, you are alive, but pinned, and the car catches fire, you end up dying from the fire-not

actually the wreck. does that help you at all?
