How do you replace the belt tensioner on a 1996 Dodge Dakota?

The plastic part of the belt tensioner has broken and needs to be replaced. It grinded down the serpentine belt almost the nothing before I caught it. I was able to loosen the bolt to get the new one on, now I'm stuck. So is it necessary to remove the fan and the radiator? How will I know I have the right tension once the new is on?How do you replace the belt tensioner on a 1996 Dodge Dakota? No need to remove the fan or raidiator, If you have a 3.9 or 5.2 engine you need a 9/16 inch socket to take off the three bolts that hold on the tensioner. It may help also if you remove the bolt that holds the dipstick to the alternator bracket and pull it out of the way to get the inside bolt. How do you replace the belt tensioner on a 1996 Dodge Dakota?you do not have to remove the fan or radiator the clearance should be fine the tensioner is spring loaded so it will automatically set itself
