What belt would I be at a different martial arts school?

I used to take tang soo do at a local martial arts school but i quit when i was a Green belt with a red stripe (5th gup)... This was about two years ago... since then i have forgotten alot of what i learned and now i am thinking about starting a different form of Martial Arts at a different school. How would the belt transfer work? Would i start back at white belt?

Also what would happen if i stuck with tang soo do?What belt would I be at a different martial arts school?White belt! Why would any martial arts school other than a TSD school start you anywhere else. You don't know any of the other arts system so you need to empty your cup to fill it up with the new juice.

And if you have been out of TSD for 2 years then you need to start over again. Things change and you need to get back in shape. I bet you lost your flexibility, timing, distance and other factors as well after 2 years off.

White belt is for you. What belt would I be at a different martial arts school?Another art you would start as white belt DEFINATELY.

Seeing how you said you don't remember a lot about the tang soo do training you did. You yourself should WANT to start from scratch to make sure you're doing everything right. You don't skip things in martial arts. What belt would I be at a different martial arts school? If you're starting a DIFFERENT martial art, then you start a white. My black belt karate friend went to Muay Thai and he started at white.

If you stuck with tang soo do and you've forgotten alot of the things you've learnt, then they'll most likely start you at white, but you'll progress faster because things will be easier for you because you'll start to remember the moves again.

You'll start at white belt, but if it takes students 6 months to get to green advanced(like you were 2 years ago), it'll probably take you only 3 months. What belt would I be at a different martial arts school?at my school you would be white belt. What belt would I be at a different martial arts school?Well if it is a different style you will absolutely be a white belt. And if you have, as you say, forgotten everything, you should still be a white belt. What belt would I be at a different martial arts school?Think about it. You have lost some of your ability. you are changing to a different style. There is no rank equal in this case.

It is like learning French. Then you forget some of it. Then you join a German class and ask what level you are there. It does not matter. They are different and you are not at the level you were anyway.

If you have trained before, you will learn a little quicker than the first time. You should be concentrating on learning and developing skills. your belt is not important. It is what you know and can do that is.
