when my nissan pathfinder is cold and i start it the serpentine belt sqeaks. i just replaced it and its still does it when it cold. thought it disapears when it warms up. i am a picky person and i really want to get rid of the noise totally. how do i do it? i used the spray on the last belt and i made the belt sticky and even more noisier so no more sprays. should i get new pulleys? How can i get rid of the belt noise in my car?the first place to look is the belt tensioner if it is becoming weak when the engine starts it could cause a squeal (you can tell by watching it while the vehicle is idling it shouldn't have a lot of play in the belt) also look at the alignment of the pulleys if all else fails it could simply be a bad beltHow can i get rid of the belt noise in my car?Buy a new car. :)How can i get rid of the belt noise in my car?Try tightening the belt. How can i get rid of the belt noise in my car?Reduce the rpm of the engine when the motor is cold. How can i get rid of the belt noise in my car?check your pulleys they may need replacedHow can i get rid of the belt noise in my car? You'll want to go With gergorys answer. How can i get rid of the belt noise in my car?I suspect you must not have gotten a good brand of belt dressing, -- it will not solve problem instantly, -- it takes a couple days ot permeate the belt and really grab on!

There are several brands of belt derssing available, you can get it in a %26quot;spray can%26quot;, so that it is easy to handle. Use sparingly though - as if you put %26quot;great gobs%26quot; on it is going to %26quot;sling around%26quot; onto other stuff!

You might also check to see that the tensioner spring on %26quot;idler/tightener%26quot; pulley is not getting weak! A properly tensioned belt should not slip! Also you need to see which item is doing the slipping if possible, -- perhaps it has a weak bearing, - and it is going to go %26quot;out%26quot; pretty son! Most prevelent problem would be likely the alternator! As it has to pull harder after first starting car-- after it puts most of lost electricity back into battery, -it %26quot;tapers off, and no longer has as much %26quot;drag%26quot; on belt !

Maybe it would be good idea to take it somewhere and have the %26quot;charging system%26quot; checked out --- alternator, battery and all -- you can get this done free at lots of places, - including AutoZone and WalMart! Maybe your battery is getting close to bad, and it pulls a whole lot of %26quot;juice%26quot; out while canking, - which then demands a lot - putting it back in !How can i get rid of the belt noise in my car? Most likely a pulley
